The CEREC Centre, Riccarton Dentists, Christchurch, New Zealand

Dear Visitor,

I first heard about CEREC Ceramic Reconstruction ten years ago and was impressed even then. A dental reconstruction product which enabled patients to keep as much of their existing tooth as possible, procedures that could be carried out in one visit and reconstructions fitted in that same visit, great looks and excellent performance. I was persuaded it was a product I was very keen to offer my patients.

Wayne, a dentist since 1978, has been based at Riccarton Dentists in Matipo Street, Christchurch since 1990.

Now, three years into supplying CEREC at Riccarton Dentists, I am still blown away by CEREC's versatility and performance. In fact it continues to outperform my expectations and I have a growing number of satisfied clients to prove it. All of these good experiences lead me to my latest venture, the development of The CEREC Centre Web Site. I suppose I really wanted to spread the word about CEREC, get behind it and provide interested patients with a useful source of information.

At the moment the site has just three pages. This home page which includes a fun video developed from news sound bites when CEREC first made headlines in the US and a great radio interview by Simon Morton, who interviewed a colleague of mine, dentist Jeff Booth, which talks you through the CEREC procedure in his Wellington practice. There's also a page from a patients perspective, which will feature case studies from my practice, Riccarton Dentists, and some frequently asked questions, all of this will evolve and grow over time. The last page of the site is a simple questionnaire that I would encourage you to complete if you'd like to find out if this great product is right for you. I have also provided some links to other CEREC sites.

Please feel free to email me your feedback or any questions you might have or just carry out the questionnaire. Kind regards and I hope you enjoy the site.

What is CEREC?

CEREC by Sirona is one of the most advanced products in world dentistry with over six million restorations worldwide. Sirona's CEREC CAD/CAM dental restoration method simultaneously designs and mills, enabling the dentist to prepare perfectly fitted ceramic restorations in one patient visit, with huge savings in time and laboratory costs.

The name CEREC stands for Ceramic Reconstruction. The method was developed by Dr Werner Moermann and Dr Markus Brandistini in 1985 at the University of Zürich in Switzerland. Since this time CEREC has undergone continuous technical and clinical developments.

Why Choose CEREC?

Convenience
Everything is done in one appointment. No impressions, no temporaries, no need for a second injection. The CEREC Dentist uses computer aided technology on site, no need to send impressions to the lab and wait for a technician to make the restoration. Your new tooth is milled at your dental practice, while you wait and then fitted in the same appointment.

Conserving
Protects and Preserves your own tooth's structural integrity. A safe and conserving alternative to grinding down teeth for crowns. Also, if your CEREC needs replacing in 20 years' time – you still have some original tooth to work with.

Before and after the CEREC procedure

Strong, beautiful teeth
Strength of gold, looks of natural teeth. No more metal mouth, your smile no longer reveals your dental history.

Long lasting and durable
They fit so precisely, they bond to tooth structure and make the tooth stronger.

Bio-compatible
Unlike metal restorations, CEREC are inert and non-allergenic and do not release any chemicals. Closely matching the composition of your natural teeth, they expand and contract just like natural teeth when exposed to changes in temperature.

“Unquestionably the most cost-effective, durable and aesthetic restoration available”
